Ingredients for Green gram green papaya coconut Curry

  • Soaked overnight whole green gram 1 cup.
  • Water 1½ – 2 cup pressure cooker.
  • Cubed papaya: 1 cup
  • Salt to taste
  • Grated or small cut fresh ginger 3-4 tsp
  • Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • Cumin 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • Hing 1/4th tsp
  • Chat masala 1 tsp
  • Black pepper 1 tsp

Optional:

  • Tamarind 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves: handful
  • Shredded Coconut: ½ cup

Method to cook Green Papaya and green lentil

  • Step 1: Soaked whole green gram (moong seeds) overnight 4-8 hours. You can soak in the morning if you intend for dinner. Rinse and add 1 and 1/2 cup water to pressure cooker and cook for 1 whistle.
  • Step 2: Heat a pan, add oil, add grated ginger + add mustard seeds + cumin seeds + bay leaves+ turmeric and other optional spices.
  • Step 3: Add cubed papaya and let it cook for 10-15 mins, Keep stirring and covering it.
  • Step 4: Take ½ cup cooked mung and grind it. Add this paste to the spices and then add the rest of the cooked mung. Add more water for desired consistency.
  • Step 5: Add grated coconut and tamarind paste now. Mix it well and add coriander leaves.

Serve: Green Papaya and green moong with rice or flat bread.
