Ayurveda for Young Women in Early 20s – Getting ready for an energetic career

This part of Ayurveda for Women Health series focuses on the young women in Early 20s entering into higher education or choosing a career path whose both body and mind are well developed. 

The 20s are a time of transition and change, and this can be a difficult and stressful time for many young women. The pressure to succeed in career, relationships, and finding a sense of identity can take a toll on both physical and mental health. Many young adults are sexually active and have to choose from many products available in the market to prevent pregnancy and also have life stressors and experiences that may trigger feelings of anxiety and depression. 

The most common adverse effect of combined oral contraceptive pills is inconsistent bleeding. Women complain of nausea, headaches, abdominal cramping, breast tenderness, and increased vaginal discharge or decreased libido and at the same time many psychological issues may develop during these times. Making informed decisions based on minimizing the use of medicines that disrupts the Ovulation is the best way to go.

Ayurveda Recommends Neem Oil based Tampons as spermicides to protect from unwanted pregnancy. 

This is the time when most autoimmune disorders are triggered in women. Many suffer from Hashimoto disorder which is also known as Hyperthyroiditis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, PCOS Polycystic ovarian Syndrome, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Gout, Lupus and many more.

Ayurveda recommends to follow simple rules for strengthening the 3 pillars of life, Ahara Nidra and Brahmacharya which indicates Food you eat and regularizing optimal Sleep and Engaging in knowledge. Rules for food: Continue to eat 2-3 times a day based on your hunger in time and being aware of the quantity and quality of food. Do not overeat or undereat or snack. Do not eat dry salty or sweet food in excess. Be mindful of what you are eating. Generally, avoid Pitta aggravating food and behaviors. For sleep, try to regularize and maintain a sleep time and wake up time based on your personal body type need; which is between 6-8 hours.Sleep by 10 pm and wake up by 6 am. For Brahmacharya; which means to engage in knowledge based information and develop your life’s philosophy that gives your broader understanding perceptive to start your life.
